Trey's guitar isn't entirely in tune for this YEM, but it's still
worth my time. Why? Because the intro to "The Wedge" (first played
in full on 2/3/93) makes an appearance in this jam segment. And it's
VERY cool!

The pre-Nirvana section is somewhat extended for an early 90's YEM,
but nothing special. Nirvana at 2:42. Mike may tease something in
his solo section at 3:28, but if he does, I can't ID it (thanks for
the tapes, Paul G.!). Good precharge segment but nothing to write home
about. Trey's guitar just doesn't sound quite right. He's a bit off,
too, with respect to keeping up with Fish, it sounds like. He riffs
pretty well in here, though, shortly before the "charge."

"Boy" at 6:15 after an excellent scream. It must be a college crowd
given all the screaming after "shit." ;-P The WUDMTF segment is very
loose. One of Trey's strings is still off and it isn't pretty.
Tramps jam begins at 8:30 and Mike signals for the trampolines moves.
Page takes off on the keys. Nothing unusually inspired for Fall 1992,
but some fine work all the same.

Trey comes in around 10 minutes chording, and at 10:18, he starts
chording in that progression that is featured in Wedge's piano-driven
introduction (before the lyrics). Mike jams along with it. Page
comes in soloing on keys with the piano effect on. Trey starts
soloing around 11 mins as the others continue the Wedge-intro's
descending progression. Trey's guitar still sounds off, frankly, so it
isn't as pretty as it could be. I'm surprised that they haven't
really pushed out The Wedge's intro before. It seems like a great
place for everyone to just WAIL. (not simply Page) I guess they
haven't done it because they effectively do it in here (12:06). Been
there, done that, as they say... If everyone's instruments were
blending properly, this could have been something awe-inspiringly
beautiful. It still sounds very cool, though! I've always wanted to
hear Wedge's intro segment jammed out like this. It's such a
beautiful chord progression (even though it is simple, it's still
gorgeous, imo). Excellent close to the jam around 13:15.

And Bass and Drums at 13:20, and Mike continues with the beautiful
Wedge-intro-progression. Aaaah. Excellent accompaniment from Fish on
drums!! Niiiiice! =^] Wonderful, melodious B&D. Mike keeps with the
Wedge-intro's progression.

Closing WUDMTF lyrics at 14:40 or so, and Mike vocal jams the
Wedge-intro's progression at first. Vocal jam includes "Stop
fidgeting around" vocalizations, among other things that I can't quite
make out. Ends on a "Check it out" climactic theme. Total time:
19:13. It's hard to rate this because I love the Wedge and it was so
cool to hear the intro jammed out in the jam section -- even though
Trey's guitar wasn't entirely in tune. Aw fuck it. Ratings don't
matter anyway. Given the time period, this gets an B+.

two cents,
