WIPE OUT! HF POD REVISITS 11.27.98

For the past few episodes, we've spent a lot of time talking about 2018, with good reason. But for the 20th anniversary of this legendary show, we're going back to revisit the wild and wonderful 11.27.98 from Worcester. Check it out.

There's lots of music and discussion on 11.27.98, some arguing, lots of laughing and some factual errors by RJ. We had a good time revisiting this one and are excited to share lots of jams with you.

We discuss the whole show and play a couple highlights from both sets. We debate the merits of this as a Live Phish release given the other gems in Fall '98, and talk about songs that have already passed their peaks and that might not come back (like "Reba").

We're proud to partner with Ben & Jerry’s to help raise awareness of The WaterWheel Foundation. As mentioned in the episode, listeners can receive free shipping on all orders over $50 using the promo code OSIRIS at checkout. Click here to order "It's Ice...Cream" and pick up a t-shirt. Do it today—the holidays are right around the corner.

Hope you enjoy this conversation and music, and we'll see you in a couple weeks. Give us a review on Apple Podcasts!

JakeB This was one of my first shows! Despite being a fan since '94, my show number is nothing compared to most of you all. I see them when I can, but I just don't get to go to that many shows. And I'll always associate this night with my realization of, "Whoa, so this is what being at one of those Phish shows is like."

My buddy and I decided to drive up to Worcester from Connecticut and back for the first two nights of the weekend, which was a big deal for us at the time because we were 16 and had responsible, protective parents. But we got to do it and we were killing time at the mall right by the Centrum. I remember a bunch of phans were messing with the people who made announcements over the PA system, having them page "Suzy Greenberg" and "Reba" and "Harry Hood."

We were cruising around the toy store and found a display of those wiggly Bumble Ball things that actually played "Wipe Out" while they vibrated and we were playing with them, setting a bunch of them off at once. After that, we had the song stuck in our heads all afternoon and we started laughing about how crazy it would be "if Phish played Wipe Out tonight." Little did we know. When it not only came busting out, but kept coming back over and over... Unreal. We were losing our minds!! For some reason our seats weren't together that time either, so we were in totally separate sections each going bonkers, which made it even more magical.

Very special night for me.
